ü Definition
Analytical expotition is a text that elaborates the writer’s idea
about the phenomenon surrounding.
ü Purpose
The purpose of analytical expotition is to persuade the reader/listener
that the idea is important matter.
ü Generic structur of analytical expotition are :
1.
Thesis
: Introducing
the topic and indicating the writer’s position.
The author’s point of view is called the thesis of the argument and
this is written in the introduction.
The introduction can include a preview of the arguments that will
follow in the next section of the text.
A question or emotional statement can be used to get audience
attention.
2.
Arguments
: Explaining
the arguments to support the writer’s position.
A new paragraph is used for a new argument.
Each new paragraph begins with a topic sentence that introduces a
new argument.
After the topic sentence comes detail that support the argument.
Emotive words are used to persuade the audience into believing the
author.
3.
Reiteration
: Restating
the writer’s position.
This part is the closing of analytical exposition text. Reiteration restates the
main idea in the first paragraph. Reiteration can be called as “conclusion”. It’s
reinforces the author’s point of view.
ü Language Features of analytical expotition are :

Using internal conjunction.

Using causal conjunction.
·
Using Simple Present Tense and Present Perfect Tense.

Using
general noun such as computer, TV, etc.
·
Using
abstract noun such as government, policy, etc.
·
Using
action, thinking verbs and modal verbs.

Using
connectives e.g. firstly, secondly, thirdly, etc.
·
Evaluative
words e.g. important, valuable, harmful, etc.
ü Social function of analytical expotition text is to persuade reader
or listener that something is in case or that is a case to concern and pay
attention to.
